Reflecting the current economic crisis, numerous Brazilian shipyards have faced problems that sometimes slow down and even interrupt construction work on contracted vessels. At that time, the insurance companies issuing the Performance Guarantee Policy are activated.
The consequences of a claim are always unwanted. On the one hand, the borrower will have the difficulties extended to obtain new coverage, on the other the insurer will have to justify, with some weariness, before others (reinsurance club), the reasons for having taken those risks.
In this scenario, the insurer and borrower must often strive to build an alternative to the consequences of the loss in the form of a Repairing Solution, which is possible and acceptable to the involved parties.
AQUAPAR acted successfully for customers in the insurance and shipbuilding markets in cases where there was a high risk of non-execution of the work, avoiding greater damage to Shipowners at the Shipyards and thus protecting the Insurers. In some cases, AQUAPAR mediated the conflict and took over the management of the payments flow from construction to the delivery and receipt of the vessel. In a specific case, it coordinated the negotiations between the parties (shipowner, shipyard and insurer), resulting in the hull being transferred to another shipyard, and supervised the works until the completion of the work.
